EDPA President’s Update – Dan Serebin

This year seems to be flying by.  I can’t believe we are already in August, and before we know it, we will be recapping the year and discussing future trends at our ACCESS 2022 annual meeting.

I am happy to see our industry back and working so hard.  EDPA’s Executive Committee and the Board of Directors are continuing their work to ensure industry growth through education, networking, advocacy, and good works.

I am happy to see our industry back and working so hard.  EDPA’s Executive Committee and the Board of Directors are continuing their work to ensure industry growth through education, networking, advocacy, and good works.

Education & Networking
EDPA recently held our annual mid-year conference at Area15 in Las Vegas on June 19th, just before the opening of ExhibitorLive. The event was attended by 150 EDPA members and guests who took part of our most experiential event to date, including educational content and networking opportunities. Thank you to the attendees and sponsors who made ENGAGE22 a success.

EDPA ACCESS 2022, our annual conference, is taking place in San Antonio, Texas, at La Cantera’s Resort & Spa. Join us from November 29th – to December 1st for three days of industry-critical sessions and great networking opportunities.  Early-bird registration in now open and you can save $250 if you register before September 15th. Click here to register. Join us in San Antonio for ACCESS 2022! This is our industry’s not to be missed event.

Advocacy (Industry, Exhibitor, Workforce)
EDPA continues to call for legislative relief for our industry.  We remain hopeful that our elected officials with coming together for the Hardest-Hit Small Business COVID Relief Act, which could provide $6 billion USD in small business grants. EDPA is also supporting a bill to retroactively restore the Q4 2021 ERTC benefit that helped our businesses keep people on the payroll during the pandemic.

EDPA’s exhibitor advocacy committee is supporting the launch of the Exhibitor Advocate which amplifies the voice of exhibitors to ensure the enduring success of exhibitions and events by collaborating with all stakeholders to promote and cultivate open communication, consistent standards, and industry best practices.  You can learn more about the Exhibitor Advocate and how you can help here - https://exhibitoradvocacy.com.

Workforce is one of the biggest challenges facing our industry (and many others).  EDPA’s Future Workforce committee is working hard to create new EDPA resources that build industry awareness and alignment, expand academic partner relationships and deliver qualified new employees to the industry.

Good Works
The EDPA Foundation is continuing its good works this year by providing assistance and giving back to our industry. These efforts include providing family scholarships, supporting University Affiliations, and being the largest contributor annually to The Randy Smith Memorial Classic.

Thank you to all the EDPA member companies and volunteers who continue to support all that we do. For those new EDPA members, welcome and thank you for being part of our efforts. I look forward to seeing you all at ACCESS 2022 in San Antonio!

EDPA joins NetZero Carbon Events Initiative

EDPA has registered as a Supporter of the Net Zero Carbon Events initiative. The purpose of this worldwide initiative is to address climate change in the events industry, greenly reforming everything from waste management and energy conservation to local sourcing and hiring practices.

While the events industry plays a critical role in creating meeting spaces to work on solutions to end the worldwide climate crisis, it also contributes to the problem. The Net Zero Carbon Events Initiative was created to bring together organizations across the industry (from venues to organizers to exhibitors and more) to drive the events sector towards net zero.

Join us on Thursday, August 25th, 3PT/6ET for The Summer Splash Virtual Happy Hour!

We all work in experiential events because we know how to make a splash. And we’re all future leaders because we want to shake up the industry. So how will you make a splash for our virtual happy hour? Because you know with the FL’s, it’s not going to be the same old Zoom call.

Here’s how you can make a splash:
1.    Show us your summer style! How do you rock it by the pool or on your boat? We want to see your shades, your cabana shirt, your beach hat…
2.    Join from a fun location! What’s the point of a summer happy hour if we’re all stuck in the office? This is all about fun in the sun.
3.    Invite an industry friend to join! We don’t want to keep the fun to ourselves. We want to keep building that network.

And as if you needed MORE motivation: You could win a Drizly gift card for making the biggest splash in one of those three categories!
